Re: My special place

Aww @Snowie that's so crappy. Waiting and hold music, not exactly soothing hey?

Sending you some hugs hun 💜🫂

Re: My special place

I know I have to wait in line like everyone else @Jynx. I'm no more special than the people in front of me. There's only so much you can take.

Re: My special place

that's okay @Snowie perhaps a lil break from that might be good, hopefully they'll be less of wait time later.

i might be having some leftovers tonight too. what do you usually have for tea?

i don't cook, i live with my parents so my mum does the cooking. i do want to learn though, but the last few times i've tried... it's been a bit of a cooking fail.

Re: My special place

Maybe so @Snowie but there's something to be said for how horribly underfunded these services are, that people who are teetering on the edge must wait so long to just be able to chat to someone. I'm sorry it's so hard hun 💜

Re: My special place

I always cook extra @rav3n so there are left overs for nights like this. I have meals in the freezer ready to go.

I actually enjoy cooking, it is one of the things that help distract me. I mostly learnt from my Nan. I have quite a few of her cook books that I still use. I cook lots of different things. I'm lucky that my kids and H are not fussy at all and will try anything I cook. I am always looking for new and different recipes to try. They really like asian/thai food.

The last few nights have been chow mien, chicken pad thai, lasagna. Have also made banana bread and sausage rolls.

It is always nice when someone else wants to cook however. My D likes cooking too, not that she has much time with uni and work.

Re: My special place

They are under funded @Jynx, so I know they can't afford to have more people on. It just sucks.

I don't know what else to do. I've just been trying to keep myself occupied today.

Re: My special place

@Snowie it may not feel like it hun but I reckon you're doing better than you think!! Have you got much to keep you occupied for the rest of tonight?

Re: My special place

love how passionate you are with cooking and trying new recipes! oh gosh speaking of lasagna, i've been wanting to have some for soooo long @Snowie

my mum mostly cooks Indian food but she occasionally dabbles in other cuisines. i've never complained though, her food always tastes great to me. i think i put a lot of pressure on myself to be perfect because i consider my mum a perfect cook 😅

i have made burgers and pizza/pizza wheels though, and i can make salads... basically anything the involves the least amount of stove time. do you like baking too?

aw that's great the D likes cooking too! and totally fair that she doesn't have much time. what does she do for uni and work?

Re: My special place

I love Indian food @rav3n but don't cook it a lot. As long as you enjoy your mum's cooking, then let her do it!! We have an Indian restaurant in town that is really good, so will often get take away from there.

I like baking too but don't do it as much.

For uni D is doing a nursing/paramedic course. She is only in her first year but loves it so far. For work she works with 3 kids who are funded by ndis. So she will work in the home helping the mum. Sometimes she stays over night there too.

@Jynx I haven't had as much prn today so taking that as a win!

I will probably end up taking my meds and going to bed soon. I don't think staying awake will help, so at least if I am asleep my brain can have a rest.

Re: My special place

@Snowie aww your D sounds like she's doing so well!! My brother is a mental health nurse, he often speaks about how rewarding the work is!!

Yes that totally counts as a win! I hope that some slumber does your brain some good, I'm sure it will! Hope tomorrow is more manageable for ya hun 🫂💜
