Re: ~ Toolshed 2: Power Tools for Recovery ~

@Mustang67 Honestly, the 2nd, 3rd and 7th ones hit me very hard regarding childhood trauma — most of it comes from what I’ve experienced in primary school (also high school but primary school was worse) and also what I’ve sometimes experienced from my own parents back then

The part about healing attachment issues on the 7th one is something I’ve had for almost all of my life. Even to this day, I still have difficulties forming proper connections with others and there’s been a lot of instances throughout my life where I’ve chose to end friendships & dissociating myself from everyone even those that are part of my family.

Well fast forward to now, my mum is the only person I still connect with but not my dad and my sister…my sister is non-verbal & is low functioning autistic. however, when I was young I used to do things to her that i now wish I should’ve not done because that’s the main reason she’s been continuously scared of me ever since then & looking at how she’s been towards me for all these years (her being scared of me which made me super angry and upset each time) I don’t see things ever getting better in terms of our relationship.

Don’t worry though I have already moved out of home & am living by myself. The last time I saw my sister was only during New Year’s Day in 2025 (Jan 1 2025).

On top of all that, I’ve been having what’s called ‘celebrity worship syndrome’ or ‘idol worship syndrome (I’ve learnt that that’s an actual thing but still yet to be considered as a clinical condition) that’s been part of the majority of my life…a lot of that has to do with me choosing to dissociate everyone from my life & struggling to accept reality because things that are shown in the media are portrayed as ‘perfect’ & that has been like my coping mechanism…
